What is Bio-Spicule Renewal?
Bio-Spicule Renewal is a professional facial resurfacing treatment using microscopic sponge-derived spicules and an activating solution. Nothing is injected.
How does the treatment work?
The freshly mixed product is pressed, patted or gently worked over selected facial zones. The microscopic spicule material provides controlled mechanical stimulation and exfoliation. Technique and intensity are individualized.
Is Bio-Spicule Renewal a chemical acid peel?
No. The treatment does not rely on glycolic, salicylic or other peel acids. Its exfoliating effect comes from the spicule material and application technique. Acid- free does not mean irritation-free or risk-free.
What concerns may Bio-Spicule Renewal help improve?
It may improve the appearance of dullness, uneven texture or tone, oiliness, congestion and fine lines. Results vary, and your practitioner will determine whether this treatment is appropriate for your skin and goals.
What does treatment feel like, and how long does it take?
Most patients notice prickling, scratching or a needle-like sensation. The application and massage portion is generally no more than 10 minutes; the complete appointment is longer because it includes cleansing, wet gauze, a soothing mask and finishing products.
What should I expect after treatment?
Touch-related prickliness may last about 48-72 hours. Flushing, tightness and dryness can occur, followed by light flaking. Pigmented areas may temporarily look darker. Skin commonly settles progressively over about 10-14 days.
When will I see results, and how many treatments will I need?
Changes are gradual and may continue to develop over several weeks. Many patients are treated in a series, often four to six sessions approximately two weeks apart. Treatment is repeated only after full recovery and practitioner reassessment.
Is Bio-Spicule Renewal suitable for all skin tones?
It may be considered for many skin tones, but pigment changes are possible. Your practitioner will review recent tanning, melasma or post-inflammatory pigmentation history and choose a conservative plan when appropriate.
When should treatment be postponed or avoided?
Treatment may need to be delayed for sunburn or a recent tan, open or irritated skin, infection or cold sores, inflamed acne, or an eczema or rosacea flare. Medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding, poor healing and a history of abnormal scarring require individual review.
How should I prepare?
Avoid tanning and arrive with calm, intact skin. Stop retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs and irritating active products at least 5-7 days beforehand unless directed otherwise. Follow Valley Medical guidance about waxing, peels, laser/light treatments and microneedling before your appointment.
When can I use cleanser, makeup and regular skincare again?
During the first 72 hours, use only the clinic-supplied ampoule, approved moisturizer and cool or lukewarm water if directed. Avoid regular cleanser and makeup unless cleared. Restart gentle products first; resume active skincare only after full recovery and practitioner approval.
What should I avoid after treatment?
For the first 72 hours, avoid rubbing, picking, strenuous exercise, sweating, hot water, steam, saunas, swimming and hot tubs. Do not pull flaking skin. Avoid tanning and unapproved peels, waxing, lasers, microneedling or facials for about two weeks or until cleared. Use SPF 50 daily.
What are the possible risks, and when should I contact Valley Medical?
Expected temporary effects include prickliness, redness, tightness, dryness and flaking. Less common risks include blistering, infection, cold-sore reactivation, pigment change, scarring or an allergic reaction. Contact Valley Medical for increasing pain or redness, drainage, marked swelling, hives, eye symptoms, cold- sore symptoms or persistent colour change. Seek emergency care for breathing difficulty or facial or throat swelling.
