The case for laser hair removal is usually made in hours. Twenty minutes a day spent shaving adds up to a startling number over a lifetime: well over a thousand hours for many people.

That is a fun statistic, but it is not the reason most of our patients come in. Usually it is ingrown hairs, or irritation, or simply being tired of an ongoing chore.

How ELOS works

ELOS (electro-optical synergy) combines bi-polar radio frequency and light or laser energies to target hair follicles precisely. It was the first technology to combine energies this way, which is what allows it to treat many hair colours and types across all skin tones.

We offer two options: an 810nm diode laser with a secondary colour-blind energy source, and an applicator using both radio frequency and optical energy for finer, lighter hairs.

How many treatments?

Hair growth is reduced after each treatment, but a single session cannot affect every follicle, because follicles are not all growing at the same time. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after five to eight treatments.

Individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Dark hair responds best. Lighter hair colours generally require more sessions.

Does it hurt?

Cooling of the skin surface, plus constant measurement of the skin’s resistance, keeps the treatment safe and comfortable. We also use the Zimmer Cryo 6 skin cooling system, which cools the epidermis before, during and after the laser energy is applied without interfering with the beam.

It is a no-downtime procedure. Many patients return to normal activities immediately afterward.

Where it can be used

Both men and women can achieve permanent hair reduction on almost all body areas: upper lip, cheeks, chin, neck, breasts, stomach, arms, shoulders, bikini area, legs and back.
